Vintage Vogue - Friend

Here's another card using the new Vintage Vogue set and the scallop trim border punch.  Card base is melon mambo (2009/2010 in-color).  I used the largest flower from the stampset with pretty in pink ink.  Carefully cut completely around the image.  Then using a sponge and melon mambo ink - add dimension to the edges of the petals.  Use the crop-a-dile to punch a hole in the center and add the circle fire brad.  Use stampin dimensionals to add height and dimension.  Using the Little Leaves and the sizzix big shot machine punch out the stem and leaves in old olive card stock.  I used whisper white and punch along the left edge using the newest scallop trim border punch and then inked around the edges using melon mambo.  The "F' and the "friends in the corner came together in one stamp.  I stamped using melon mambo then cut around the "F" and then trimmed the "friends" so I had two images.  I adhered with the snail adhesive.  To finish I used the pretty in pink striped ribbon.

3-D Ladybug gift bag

This started with a $0.50 plain white gift bag that I wanted to dress up.  I also wanted to use up some of my Christmas designer paper and some of it was generic enough that it could be used for every day.  This is from the Merry Moments designer paper.  I just cut two strips of the DSP to size and then I took plain black cardstock and used the scallop edge punch to create the detail.  The ladybug is 4 punch from the scallop circle punch.  I folded them in half and glued half of one to half of the other until I had a ladybug body that looks 3-D.  I punch the head from a 1/2 inch circle punch and then used a black marker to draw the "flight" and the antennae.  Tie a coordinating Real Red ribbon and you're done.  Very simple.

Metal Flowers

I used a combination of silver and gold embossing powder to make these flowers from the Vintage Vogue (occasions mini) set look like metal.  They are a lot more "artsy" then I usually do.  But I'm pretty happy with the results.  The card base is sahara sand.  I then used the versamark pad on  a roughly 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch square black cardstock.  Cover completely with embossing powder and heat to set.  Do the same with a slightly smaller square cardstock.  I used silver on one and gold on the other.  Then carefully tear along all four edges to reveal some of the black card stock underneath.  The flowers are from the vintage vogue set - I used black card stock - stamped with versamark and used a little bit of silver - dumped in back and then did the rest of the image in gold.  I did this two times and cut them out.  Punch a hole in the center and add the designer circle brad all the way through both square layers and the flower.  This will help the glue to stick and stay together.  Add two rows of 1/4 inch black grosgrain ribbon to the bottom.  I used a little scrap of natural hemp twine on the bottom black ribbon to add a little extra.  Using the Modern label punch add your sentiment and then ink the edges with either black or brown.  I used the soft suede from the in-colors.
The picture came out really dark.  But if you look at the picture below you can get some better detail.

Here's the close up of the flowers so you can see how much they look like metal.  I also used a designer circle brad in the center to really show off the metal look.

Surprise Box

Fill this fantastic box with candy or small jewelry or other surprises.  This is a little more complex - but I would love to teach a class on how to make these.  If you're reading this and would like to learn how to make them, let me know and we will pick a date.

The one on the left is closed with a bow made from coordinating designer series paper and the other is how it would look open.

These are with a fantastic new stampset found in the occasions mini catalog (effective Jan 5 - March 31).  It's called Vintage Vogue and these are my first attempts at cards.  I'll post more as soon as they are complete.

My 2009 Christmas Cards

My Christmas card design for 2009.  It's very simple to mass produce.  It has a lot of Gold Embossing on it to make it shine.  I used a retired stamp for the leaves but really like how it turned out.

Stationary tote and matching note cards

Here's a great Christmas gift.  I'm giving this one to my mom.  Her name is Janene so I monogrammed with a "J"  This is the perfect size tote to hold 12 matching cards and envelopes.  The colors don't show up as well as I would like but I used Rich Razzleberry and Crushed curry from the in-colors.   The handles are from the Top Note die cuts with the center cut out to form the handles.

Gift Card Box with matching card

This  is a matching top note die gift card box with the matching card.  This one took a while and is a little more advanced.   I used the aquapainters to color in the flowers from the Asian Artistry hostess set.  I didn't have all the stamp pad colors so I took a sheet of heavy plastic colored on it with markers and then picked up the color with my aqua painters.  The dragonfly on the box is first colored with markers then I used versamark over the entire image, covered it with clear embossing powered and then heat set it with the heat tool.

Asian Artistry

Top note big shot die  - lots of sponging and the asian artistry hostess set created a pretty fantastic non Christmas card.  It's the holiday's but there is only so many Christmas cards I can make.
